Our commitment to fast, reliable delivery ensures you can enjoy your new mobility scooter quickly and conveniently, arriving at your doorstep within just a few days. Whether you’re seeking a compact model for daily use or a more robust option for extended travel, we have a variety of mobility scooters to meet your unique needs.

Choosing the Right Mobility Scooter

Choosing the right mobility scooter is a critical decision that depends on several factors. First, consider your intended use—will you primarily use it indoors, outdoors, or both? For indoor use, look for models with a tight turning radius and compact dimensions to navigate hallways and doorways easily. For outdoor use, prioritize scooters with larger wheels, better suspension, and a longer distance range for uneven terrain or longer trips. Weight capacity is another key consideration; ensure the scooter can support your weight comfortably. Additionally, think about portability—do you need a model that folds or disassembles for transport? Comfort features like adjustable seats, armrests, and tillers also play a role in ensuring a personalized fit. Our team at Galenus Medical is here to guide you through these considerations to find the perfect mobility scooter for your lifestyle.

FAA Compliance for Travel

FAA compliance is a vital aspect for those planning to travel with their mobility scooters. Many of our mobility scooters feature FAA-compliant lithium-ion batteries, typically limited to 300 watt-hours (Wh) for the primary battery, with the option to carry one spare battery not exceeding 300 Wh or two spare batteries not exceeding 160 Wh each. This compliance ensures you can safely board flights with your mobility scooter, making travel more accessible. When selecting a model, check the battery specifications to confirm it meets airline requirements, and always consult with your airline in advance to ensure a smooth travel experience.

Battery Wattage, Sizes, and Charging

Battery specifications are a key factor in the performance of mobility scooters. Our models come with varying battery wattages and sizes to suit different needs. Standard battery options often include 12 amp-hour (Ah) or 15 amp-hour batteries, providing a solid range for daily use. For extended travel, some scooters offer higher-capacity options, such as 249.6 Wh lithium-ion batteries, often configured as a single battery or, in some models, dual batteries for increased power and range. Charging is straightforward—most mobility scooters come with a charger that plugs into a standard household outlet, typically requiring 6-8 hours for a full charge. Always follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for charging to maintain battery health and ensure optimal performance.

Distance Range of Mobility Scooters

The distance range of mobility scooters varies by model and battery size. Standard models, such as those with a 12 Ah battery, may offer a per-charge range of up to 7.25 miles, ideal for short trips or daily errands. For longer journeys, some of our scooters, especially those with larger or dual batteries (e.g., 249.6 Wh x 2), can travel up to 22 miles on a single charge. Range depends on factors like user weight, terrain, speed, and weather conditions, so consider your typical travel distance when selecting a model to ensure it meets your needs.

Standard vs. Heavy-Duty Mobility Scooters

Standard and heavy-duty mobility scooters cater to different user requirements. Standard mobility scooters are lighter, more compact, and designed for general use, with weight capacities typically ranging from 250 to 300 pounds. They’re ideal for users who need a versatile, easy-to-maneuver option for daily activities. Heavy-duty mobility scooters, by contrast, are built for greater durability, offering higher weight capacities (often 350 to 500 pounds) and stronger frames to handle rougher terrain or heavier loads. These models may have larger motors, enhanced suspension, and bigger wheels for stability, making them perfect for outdoor enthusiasts or those needing extra support.

Mobility Scooter Sizes and Small Doorways

Mobility scooter sizes vary to accommodate different environments and user preferences. Standard width sizes for mobility scooters typically range from 20 to 25 inches, making them suitable for most home and public spaces. However, for individuals concerned about navigating small doorways, such as those measuring 28 inches wide, we recommend selecting a compact model with a width of 22 inches or less. Seat height is another consideration, with most models offering adjustable seats, typically ranging from 17 to 22 inches, to ensure comfort and proper ground clearance. Adjustable features allow you to customize the fit for optimal ergonomics and ease of use, especially in tight spaces.

Folding Mobility Scooters for Transport

For those who value portability, folding mobility scooters are an excellent choice for transport. These lightweight models, often weighing as little as 42 pounds, can be folded or disassembled quickly, making them ideal for travel, whether by car, plane, or other means. Folding mobility scooters are designed to fit in trunks or storage compartments, offering convenience without sacrificing functionality. Many of our FAA-compliant models are also foldable, combining portability with travel-ready features for ultimate flexibility.

Let me start with their customer service. My scooter arrived completely dead. After a fairly straightforward and easy assembly,I figured it was something not too complicated, but I didn’t want to tear into it and void any warranty.I contacted them on a Friday night, and they immediately responded. They are in China, so there was an issue with timing and them being in the office. But by Saturday night, they had sent me a video showing me how to remove the control board with two simple Philips screws underneath the scooter and check for loose wiring. Sure enough, there was a positive terminal completely disconnected. As for the scooter, I came from driving a couple of 3-wheeled Drive Sp!tfires the last three years. The first one broke on the steering column after two years, and the second one only lasted one year before the front frame snapped. I decided to try something different even though it had most of the basic features I was looking for.Its 4-wheel design is much sturdier than the 3-wheel I had been using.I wanted to make sure the throttle worked the same. I wanted a paddle type throttle that worked in both directions so you can forward/reverse from either hand. This scooter has that.I wanted lithium ion batteries. This scooter has that.I wanted a decent turn radius. It’s a few degrees less than my old 3-wheel, but is sufficient enough and perfectly capable for home use. I have a perfect right turn down my hall to get to my bedroom and it handles it just fine. The seat sits a little lower than I want at its highest setting, but at almost 6’ 2” I’m used to a little compromise there. The chair had to swivel with a simple handle pull, and this one does. The arms needed to fold up with no extra buttons or anything to press, and these ones do.There is an onboard headlight. And this thing is BRIGHT. It’s honestly a little too bright at times, but I’d take that rather than being too dim and useless. It does have a horn which I don’t really care about or ever use on any scooter. It DOES NOT BEEP when you reverse which I cannot stand. So thankful for that.It came with two mirrors that honestly look a little goofy and I opted not to install those. The front basket is a little on the small side, however, there is a basket on the back as well that folds up. The one in the back is a little obtrusive. It sticks out beyond the back of the scooter slightly lengthening it.Another problem is you can’t reach the lifting handle on the back when the basket is on, though the basket does easily remove with a simple turning knob.Last thing about the basket, but I was surprised there wasn’t a warning sticker right on it when unfolding it because this thing is under some serious tension. DO NOT have your face near it when it springs into action. There is a USB charging port on the column which was a nice surprise. It shipped in less than a week. But the best part is the speed. This thing really moves at just over 6 mph on its highest speed setting. There is a slight delay from a dead start, but when you’re moving and throttle down, it picks up right away as long as you’re still in motion. The speed is also analog so you can control it with just pressure on the throttle instead of having to dial it down. So for me personally, I just keep it all the way up and control it that way. There is a simple electric brake so all you do is let off the throttle to come to a complete stop.It sits high enough off the ground to be able to load it onto a car ramp. The suspension leaves a little to be desired, but I wasn’t expecting a bunch of shocks or springs on a $600 scooter. But if you’re on a bumpy road, you do feel it a little.Overall I am extremely happy with this scooter and I highly recommend it. Some minor adjustments I would make, but again, I’m just happy to not have to pay two grand for it. If I get a couple of years out of it, then I definitely got my money’s worth and will repurchase it again.

Great mobility unit for a great price. Easy to put together. Note, however, that there’s no good spot for the bonus cell phone holder. But one doesn’t generally buy a mobility scooter for the phone holder, so I wouldn’t get my knickers in a bunch over it.I bought a cup holder that has a separate slot to hold your phone for just a few bucks on Galenus Medical and that works better.I also recommend buying a cover, especially if you plan to park it in a garage or carport. It’s still on the heavy side, so you’ll likely need an able-bodied person to lift it in the car or some kind of ramp that you can use to roll it up to the trunk. (Some workable solutions can be found on amazon, from wheelchair ramp to loading ramps. Just put the scooter in neutral and guide it up the ramp.BTW, this thing really motors, so if you’re used to grocery store mobility carts, this may feel fast. Also, the turning radius isn’t great, so no sharp turns.

I am extremely happy with this purchase. I have been pretty much home bound for 4 years since I broke my leg in 10 places. This has given me some freedom back. Came 3 days early and was very easy to assemble. Took it out to go get my hair cut. About 7 miles round trip. Did great took inclines very easily and rode great even on rough sidewalks

  4. Scott niswander

dont get me wrong it works as it should good battery life so far mirrors are usless as when installed properly they are still loose and swival while in use little on the heavy side as far as loading in a car

  5. Robert S

Outside of the seat measurement being off. And the solid tires causing a little rough ride. It’s a great scooter. Battery life is good. Works good on gravel or grass. Will go up a pretty steep incline with out to much trouble. I’m about 6′ 3″ and about 260lbs. Works great for me and is comfortable. I have used it at the zoo, parks and stores. Turning radius could be a little better, but I rarely have trouble getting around with it.
