I just had hip replacement surgery and I knew I was going to need something to help me raise myself up and down on the toilet. I got two sets of rails, one for upstairs and one for the half bath downstairs. The rails were easy to put together and to adjust the height. Full disclosure – you are supposed to secure the back of the rails to the inserts that hold the toilet seat to the toilet. I did not do this. I simply laid the back of the rails on the top of the toilet directly behind the seat. Because the rails are not secured to the toilet itself, the rails are a little bit wobbly, but I didn’t want to have to remove the toilet seat and secure the rails more permanently as I don’t expect to use the rails long term. For me, they serve a temporary but important service. I can lower and raise myself onto the toilet independently without any assistance, which is great. I highly recommend even if using just short term as you’ll definitely feel safer in the bathroom.
