Easy to put together works great!

Very little assembly is required. It is a very versatile, usable item. I highly recommend it for those with mobility problems. When I use it as a walker and get tired, my adult kids can push me in it. Really great?

  3. Jill

Very nice. Nice that you can transport (push like a wheelchair) in this also. Quick delivery, minor issue with pc but manufacturer so helpful. Not much to assemble, so easy. Good quality. Love it.

I’m changing my review. My mother like it as a walker. It is unsafe as a transport wheelchair. But even as a walker, it is incredibly difficult to load into the car. The foot rest does not lock into place. I have crunched my fingers on more than one occasion because of it. The armrests do lock in place when you use them, but they do not lock into place when you are only using the walker – therefore when you slide in or out of the car, they catch on things and will open making it difficult to remove the walker or put it in. I really do not recommend this at all. If you want a walker – go with just a walker. If you want a transport chair find something a lot safer.I do like this but it is better as a walker than a transport wheelchair. I had hoped to use it as a wheelchair for my Mom for a family vacation – She likes to walk but gets tired, so I thought this would be the best of both worlds – I can push her when the walking becomes to much and we stay together as a family unit. This cannot transition between sidewalk and grass, for example without potentially throwing Mom out of the chair (it just lunged her forward when I tried as the chair came to a sudden stop – it could not roll onto the grass which was slightly higher than the sidewalk). Also at night, the electric cords came out and crossed the sidewalk – some were covered with rubber mats that had a slight incline, forming a very small bridge over the cord – the chair could not roll over and the sudden stop caused another lurching. As long as we remained on level sidewalk there was no issue pushing her. As a walker, it has some advantages over the drugstore models. It folds and pretty much stays in folded position without much trouble. It locks open, which is a nice feature. Another reviewer says it folds to a length of 44″ but this is only if you keep the handles extended. My mother is short and the handles have to be in the lowest position, so it is not 44″ in length. One thing, though – there is a different set of handles used for the wheelchair. Although they lock when they are up – they do not lock when they are down. This can be a problem as you are sliding it in/out of the car as they will open, complicating the process of getting it in and out of the car as they catch on things. The same can be true for the lower foot rest, but it doesn’t happen as often as with the handles – still the footrest should lock in place also.

8 yr update. I am using this 14 hrs a day as an indoor rollator and sitting on it to use my legs to propel me short distances in the kitchen area to cook/wash up/ put away groceries, etc. I can’t say this worked terrific as a transport chair but as a rollator and what I’ll call a “scootch” chair, it’s fabulous.=====================================================================First the positives:This is still the most useful of my several types of walkers as far as functionality. It changes from walker to wheelchair in less than a minute. I can fit my ample tush on it no problem though I do use my coat or a cushion to sit on if I’ll be using it for a while. The cloth basket under the seat holds quite a lot and I like that it is closed in unlike a wire basket.I have trouble bending my knees past what is a normal seating position and I am able to use the foot rest on this well. The brakes work well. Now the negatives:The wheels could be better, that is, larger would be better. This tends to get stuck on even a small bump like entering or exiting an elevator.Hubby feels if they were softer or wider they might bridge the gaps better. As it is, yesterday the wheel went sideways and we got stuck in the middle of exiting an elevator so I had to get up and we fought with the door while he extricated it. Not ideal. It’s very ungainly to load and unload in the car even for a non disabled person. I don’t have any ideas for fixing this sadly. We’d still love it if the handles were able to be a bit higher. Hubby (the person pushing) is 6’3″ and he really has to hunch over.Tips for use:There are lots of reports of tipping. I agree. It’s a problem (again, larger wheels would help – Hello, Drive Medical?). The best way to avoid this would be to add a seat belt because even at my larger size it does not happen if I lean back when we are going over bumps. The impulse for the rider is to lean forward to help with something like a door being opened, but then you hit the door jamb and wham you’re tipped forward. So I sit far back straight and hang onto the armrests. So far this works. It’s hard to remember to NOT lean forward to help open a door but it’s an absolute necessity in this chair. For an elderly person who might not remember or have the strength I have to say as a former caregiver myself I would choose to get a transport chair instead as it’s more stable. But for those able to understand it’s issues this is still a good choice. Others have mentioned a seat belt. I would not want one myself but it would not be hard to just use an extra long belt around the frame.I’ve worked this pretty hard around the house as a laundry basket carrier, and on trips. It’s not the smoothest ride. It’s got it’s issues but for what it is, it’s the best I have found.I recommend it, with my notations above taken into account.
