This pillow comes in three pieces – a large foam wedge that is flat on its longest side and is curved convex on its second longest side along with a smaller wedge that is concave and fits against the convex side of the large wedge to make a large flat triangle. The smaller wedge can be attached with velcro fasteners to keep it in place. For some strange reason, it is shipped with piece of regular cloth on the velcro which did not allow it to attach. Once I figured this out and removed the cloth, the velcro attached normally. There is a third skinny piece that can attach to the large wedge via an elastic strap. I found that the elastic was not that strong and the skinny piece would shift around as you shifted on the pillow.The wedge can be place tall side up for sitting up in bed or tall side down for a reclined position. One configuration option I did not see in the product description, but I found extremely useful, was to and detach the small wedge and place the large wedge flat side down (i.e. convex side up) and place it at knee level. If you need to elevate your legs while you rest, the curved surface made for extremely comfortable leg support.
