Whether you’re navigating your home, running errands, or traveling, we have an electric wheelchair to support your independence and mobility.
Choosing the Right Electric Wheelchair
Selecting the right electric wheelchair involves considering several key factors. First, assess your primary use: will you use it mostly indoors, outdoors, or for travel? For indoor use, prioritize models with a tight turning radius and compact dimensions. For outdoor use, look for wheelchairs with robust suspension, larger wheels, and sufficient battery range for longer trips. Weight capacity is another critical consideration—ensure the wheelchair can safely support your body weight. Comfort features like adjustable seating, cushioning, and footrests are also important, especially for extended use. Finally, consider portability; if you travel frequently, a lightweight, foldable model may be ideal. Our team at Galenus Medical is here to help you evaluate these factors and find the perfect fit for your lifestyle.
FAA Compliance for Electric Wheelchairs
For those who travel by air, FAA compliance is a crucial consideration. Many electric wheelchairs in our selection are designed to meet FAA standards for air travel, particularly regarding battery safety. Most of our models feature lithium-ion batteries, which are commonly approved for air travel when they meet specific watt-hour (Wh) limits—typically 300 Wh or less for a single battery or 160 Wh for spares. These batteries are often removable, allowing you to detach them for carry-on storage while the wheelchair frame is checked as luggage. Always check with your airline for specific requirements, but our FAA-compliant electric wheelchairs are designed to make travel smoother and more accessible.
Battery Wattage and Wheelchair Charging
Battery wattage is a key factor in the performance of electric wheelchairs. Our models typically feature lithium-ion batteries ranging from 100 to 300 watt-hours (Wh), balancing power and portability. Higher wattage batteries often provide longer travel distances but may be heavier, while lower wattage options are lighter and better suited for travel. Charging is straightforward—most electric wheelchairs come with a standard charger that plugs into a regular household outlet. A full charge typically takes 6-8 hours, though some models offer fast-charging options. We recommend charging overnight and avoiding complete battery depletion to extend battery life. Dual-battery designs are also available in some models, offering extended range and flexibility.
Distance Range of Electric Wheelchairs
The distance range of electric wheelchairs varies depending on the model, battery capacity, terrain, and user weight. Our selection includes options with ranges from 10 to 20 miles on a single charge under optimal conditions. Lightweight models designed for travel often offer around 10-15 miles, ideal for short trips or daily use. Heavy-duty models, built for more demanding use, can achieve up to 20 miles or more, depending on factors like speed, weight load, and terrain. Flat, smooth surfaces maximize range, while hills or rough terrain may reduce it. We provide detailed range specifications for each model to help you choose one that matches your daily needs.
Standard vs. Heavy-Duty Electric Wheelchairs
Electric wheelchairs come in standard and heavy-duty varieties to suit different needs. Standard electric wheelchairs are typically lighter, with weight capacities up to 250-300 pounds, and are designed for everyday use in homes, offices, or light outdoor environments. They often feature a compact frame and a tighter turning radius for maneuverability. Heavy-duty electric wheelchairs, by contrast, are built with reinforced frames and more powerful motors, supporting weights up to 400 pounds or more. These models offer enhanced durability, stronger suspension, and often a longer range, making them ideal for users needing extra support or those navigating varied terrains like gravel or grass. Both types are available in our lineup to ensure all users find a reliable option.
Wheelchair Sizes: Standard Width, Seat Height, and Footrests
Electric wheelchairs come in various sizes to accommodate different body types and environments. Standard seat widths typically range from 16 to 20 inches, with 18 inches being the most common for average adult users. Seat heights vary, generally between 18 and 22 inches from the floor without footrests. With adjustable footrests attached, the overall height and leg positioning can be customized for comfort, typically adding a few inches to the setup. For users concerned with small doorways, such as those measuring 28 inches wide, we offer compact models with total widths as narrow as 23-25 inches, ensuring easy navigation through tight spaces. Always measure your doorways and key areas to confirm fit, and our team can assist with precise specifications.
Folding Wheelchairs for Transport
For those needing portability, folding electric wheelchairs are an excellent option. These models are designed to collapse quickly and easily, often in seconds, making them ideal for transport in cars, SUVs, or even airplanes. Lightweight folding wheelchairs in our collection can weigh as little as 37.5 to 50 pounds, fitting compactly into most vehicle trunks. Some feature removable batteries and foldable frames for even easier storage. Whether you’re traveling locally or long-distance, these folding electric wheelchairs offer convenience without sacrificing functionality, allowing you to maintain mobility on the go.
Manual vs. Automated Reclining Wheelchairs
Electric wheelchairs may offer reclining features, available in manual or automated designs. Manual reclining wheelchairs require the user or a caregiver to adjust the backrest by hand, typically using a lever or mechanism. This option is simpler and often more affordable but may require assistance for operation. Automated reclining wheelchairs, on the other hand, use powered controls to adjust the backrest and sometimes the leg rests, offering greater independence and ease. These models are ideal for users who need frequent repositioning for comfort or medical reasons, such as pressure relief. Both types are available, allowing you to choose based on your needs and budget.

I got this chair to help with mobility. My bones are dying so walking more than a few steps is excruciating. This chair is comfortable, rides smoothly, easy to maneuver. It turns around in a small area, backs up, and the joystick is easy to use. It is easier to control when the speed is atleast on medium to high. It’s compact, not bulky, and it doesn’t beat up the walls and base boards. Fits easily in my trunk and not extremely heavy but it easier to get in and out of the car with two people lifting it. This was a phenomenal purchase. Easy to assemble.

I compared several wheelchairs. I was researching my first electric wheelchair. I compared the RehabRoller lightweight foldable wheelchair for speed, travel distance, weight, ease of loading into a vehicle and safety features. It offered more of what I needed plus it was on sale. I saved a couple hundred dollars and got the top features. The remote control can be set on up on the left or right. It can travel 12miles and a top speed of 5.5 mph. Other models in my range didn’t go as far. I needed a longer distance in case I couldn’t walk depending on my health condition that day. I can use it indoors and out. I look forward to finding out more about it as I use. It was easy to assemble what was left to put together; my son did take care of getting it ready to go. He weighs around 180 pounds and found it easy to use in the hallways and home. It is airline approved. The chair weighs 50.6 pounds and can be folded for loading in a vehicle. Battery takes just four hours to charge it. And is has an anti-tipping device and a light weight safety belt. The wheelchair is airline approved.

Wheelchair is unsafe. Its moves by itself, you can turn it off, it jerks movement in place, terrible item. I want my money back! Before I have to get in touch with someone. You have to go on a slow mode to control steering and then you don’t always have control of it /. The more speed you give it to less control you have .and the foot plate does not stay up when you put it up. It falls down. Just be careful. You don’t trip over it when it’s down I wouldn’t recommend the chair. Also, sometimes when I’m going along the seat pushes up on me and I can’t figure out why.this is their fix and reply to me. not a good seller or company.Thank you for providing your address and contact information. We have consulted with our factory regarding the lock nuts. After thorough testing, they found that the lock nuts might not be effective and could potentially cause further damage to the footrest if not installed correctly.I understand how frustrating this situation can be, especially when you just want everything to work smoothly. Our primary concern is your safety and the functionality of your wheelchair. Therefore, the best solution would be to use a strap to se the footrest. You can run a strap through the gap under the seat cushion and attach it to the footrest. This method should help keep the footrest in place and prevent it from falling down.I genuinely appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to resolve this issue. Your comfort and satisfaction are very important to us. If you need any assistance with securing the footrest or have any other concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to help and ensure you have a positive experience with your wheelchair.Thank you for your continued trust in our products.Best regards,

I have had the chair for six months. The battery life, and other features mentioned in the listing are accurate.I had to make modifications to make this wheelchair work for me. The modifications I madeprobably void any warranty but for me, the improvements were a must. The handles for someone to push were not needed and got in the way when turning around in elevatorsthey bumped into people on more than one occasion, so I replaced them with a donated craftsman lawnmower upper push handle cut to fit. I am going to get another lawnmower handle and place 90 degree bends at the top to get the bar 3 or 4 inches away so it does not hit my back before the cloth back support.I replaced the folding elbows that came with the chair because over time they became very difficult to release and fold so I got the push pull cart elbows pictured and they are very easy to release and lock. The chair comes with a joystick holder that does not swing away for pulling up close to tables so I replaced it with one that does. It was not simple I had to split the receiving tube and pry it open to make the swing away arm I bought (used) fit, also the front screw hole that holds down the padded armrest was blocked after I installed the arm so I had to relocate that.It cost me about $50 in parts ( would cost more without donated lawnmower handle) and my time to modify the chair to my liking but was well worth it.As pictured the chair fits in the trunk (2018 Nissan Sentra) before I modified the chair I had to fold thepush handles to make it fit and they didn’t lock in place when folded so they were always swinging and making it a pain to lift into the trunk, it is much easier now.

Writing this after 8 month of use. I bought it for my visiting Dad he had knee replacement and back issues. This chair is value for money , it has long battery life and good quality joy stick. Seat is good comfortable for short trips. Weight is light compared to other chairs but you need good back muscles to load and unload from trunk. I wish they have some grabbing handle at sides for easy load unload from car.Wheels are big enough for sidewalk and paved surfaces, but front wheels are small so even 2inch height joint it won’t climb and knock you down so be careful
