Customer Review –
Think of this as a walker with the ability to be used as a transport chair. Don’t think of it as a wheelchair because that is not it’s main purpose. The walker came in a large, relatively heavy container that was difficult to grab onto but it did a decent job of protecting it from shipping damage. I’m including a picture of what the parts look like bundled up.Unpacking it took a while since every part was in bubble wrap. It came with instructions in a pamphlet-style booklet that had been folded in one of the bubble wrap bags. Because of the type of paper used, it was not easy to turn the folded pages and keep them open while following the instructions. This accounted for a large part of the hour and a half it took to put the wheelchair together. It assembled pretty easily with only one omission of what to do with two washers. Once assembled, it was easy to determine that they should go on the bolts for the rear wheels. There were NO extra parts, should any get lost.Once assembled it took a little while to figure out where the storage bag should be mounted and where the foot holders should go when not in use (they snap into holders on the side).Overall, the walker is sturdy and the red color is attractive. From a design standpoint the brakes and plastic wheels are not very effective on smooth surfaces but their size is good for going over cracks. That said, the wheelchair seat is wide but not deep enough to be really comfortable for long sits. When used as a walker with occasional seating, the wheelchair works really well. The booklet mentions some kind of design aid for steps, but it wasn’t clear what that was. While it lacks some of the features found on more expensive transport wheelchairs like rubber tires, feather weight, and full padded back, I think it is well worth its price, with its ability to be used both as a sturdy walker and transport wheelchair.
