Our inventory includes options for different terrains, lifestyles, and user preferences, all crafted with durability, comfort, and ease of use in mind. Whether you’re navigating your home, running errands, or traveling, we have an electric wheelchair to support your independence and mobility.

Choosing the Right Electric Wheelchair

Selecting the right electric wheelchair involves considering several key factors. First, assess your primary use: will you use it mostly indoors, outdoors, or for travel? For indoor use, prioritize models with a tight turning radius and compact dimensions. For outdoor use, look for wheelchairs with robust suspension, larger wheels, and sufficient battery range for longer trips. Weight capacity is another critical consideration—ensure the wheelchair can safely support your body weight. Comfort features like adjustable seating, cushioning, and footrests are also important, especially for extended use. Finally, consider portability; if you travel frequently, a lightweight, foldable model may be ideal. Our team at Galenus Medical is here to help you evaluate these factors and find the perfect fit for your lifestyle.

FAA Compliance for Electric Wheelchairs

For those who travel by air, FAA compliance is a crucial consideration. Many electric wheelchairs in our selection are designed to meet FAA standards for air travel, particularly regarding battery safety. Most of our models feature lithium-ion batteries, which are commonly approved for air travel when they meet specific watt-hour (Wh) limits—typically 300 Wh or less for a single battery or 160 Wh for spares. These batteries are often removable, allowing you to detach them for carry-on storage while the wheelchair frame is checked as luggage. Always check with your airline for specific requirements, but our FAA-compliant electric wheelchairs are designed to make travel smoother and more accessible.

Battery Wattage and Wheelchair Charging

Battery wattage is a key factor in the performance of electric wheelchairs. Our models typically feature lithium-ion batteries ranging from 100 to 300 watt-hours (Wh), balancing power and portability. Higher wattage batteries often provide longer travel distances but may be heavier, while lower wattage options are lighter and better suited for travel. Charging is straightforward—most electric wheelchairs come with a standard charger that plugs into a regular household outlet. A full charge typically takes 6-8 hours, though some models offer fast-charging options. We recommend charging overnight and avoiding complete battery depletion to extend battery life. Dual-battery designs are also available in some models, offering extended range and flexibility.

Distance Range of Electric Wheelchairs

The distance range of electric wheelchairs varies depending on the model, battery capacity, terrain, and user weight. Our selection includes options with ranges from 10 to 20 miles on a single charge under optimal conditions. Lightweight models designed for travel often offer around 10-15 miles, ideal for short trips or daily use. Heavy-duty models, built for more demanding use, can achieve up to 20 miles or more, depending on factors like speed, weight load, and terrain. Flat, smooth surfaces maximize range, while hills or rough terrain may reduce it. We provide detailed range specifications for each model to help you choose one that matches your daily needs.

Standard vs. Heavy-Duty Electric Wheelchairs

Electric wheelchairs come in standard and heavy-duty varieties to suit different needs. Standard electric wheelchairs are typically lighter, with weight capacities up to 250-300 pounds, and are designed for everyday use in homes, offices, or light outdoor environments. They often feature a compact frame and a tighter turning radius for maneuverability. Heavy-duty electric wheelchairs, by contrast, are built with reinforced frames and more powerful motors, supporting weights up to 400 pounds or more. These models offer enhanced durability, stronger suspension, and often a longer range, making them ideal for users needing extra support or those navigating varied terrains like gravel or grass. Both types are available in our lineup to ensure all users find a reliable option.

Wheelchair Sizes: Standard Width, Seat Height, and Footrests

Electric wheelchairs come in various sizes to accommodate different body types and environments. Standard seat widths typically range from 16 to 20 inches, with 18 inches being the most common for average adult users. Seat heights vary, generally between 18 and 22 inches from the floor without footrests. With adjustable footrests attached, the overall height and leg positioning can be customized for comfort, typically adding a few inches to the setup. For users concerned with small doorways, such as those measuring 28 inches wide, we offer compact models with total widths as narrow as 23-25 inches, ensuring easy navigation through tight spaces. Always measure your doorways and key areas to confirm fit, and our team can assist with precise specifications.

Folding Wheelchairs for Transport

For those needing portability, folding electric wheelchairs are an excellent option. These models are designed to collapse quickly and easily, often in seconds, making them ideal for transport in cars, SUVs, or even airplanes. Lightweight folding wheelchairs in our collection can weigh as little as 37.5 to 50 pounds, fitting compactly into most vehicle trunks. Some feature removable batteries and foldable frames for even easier storage. Whether you’re traveling locally or long-distance, these folding electric wheelchairs offer convenience without sacrificing functionality, allowing you to maintain mobility on the go.

Manual vs. Automated Reclining Wheelchairs

Electric wheelchairs may offer reclining features, available in manual or automated designs. Manual reclining wheelchairs require the user or a caregiver to adjust the backrest by hand, typically using a lever or mechanism. This option is simpler and often more affordable but may require assistance for operation. Automated reclining wheelchairs, on the other hand, use powered controls to adjust the backrest and sometimes the leg rests, offering greater independence and ease. These models are ideal for users who need frequent repositioning for comfort or medical reasons, such as pressure relief. Both types are available, allowing you to choose based on your needs and budget.

Whether you’re seeking a compact model for daily use or a more robust option for extended travel, we have a variety of mobility scooters to meet your unique needs.

Choosing the Right Mobility Scooter

Choosing the right mobility scooter is a critical decision that depends on several factors. First, consider your intended use—will you primarily use it indoors, outdoors, or both? For indoor use, look for models with a tight turning radius and compact dimensions to navigate hallways and doorways easily. For outdoor use, prioritize scooters with larger wheels, better suspension, and a longer distance range for uneven terrain or longer trips. Weight capacity is another key consideration; ensure the scooter can support your weight comfortably. Additionally, think about portability—do you need a model that folds or disassembles for transport? Comfort features like adjustable seats, armrests, and tillers also play a role in ensuring a personalized fit. Our team at Galenus Medical is here to guide you through these considerations to find the perfect mobility scooter for your lifestyle.

FAA Compliance for Travel

FAA compliance is a vital aspect for those planning to travel with their mobility scooters. Many of our mobility scooters feature FAA-compliant lithium-ion batteries, typically limited to 300 watt-hours (Wh) for the primary battery, with the option to carry one spare battery not exceeding 300 Wh or two spare batteries not exceeding 160 Wh each. This compliance ensures you can safely board flights with your mobility scooter, making travel more accessible. When selecting a model, check the battery specifications to confirm it meets airline requirements, and always consult with your airline in advance to ensure a smooth travel experience.

Battery Wattage, Sizes, and Charging

Battery specifications are a key factor in the performance of mobility scooters. Our models come with varying battery wattages and sizes to suit different needs. Standard battery options often include 12 amp-hour (Ah) or 15 amp-hour batteries, providing a solid range for daily use. For extended travel, some scooters offer higher-capacity options, such as 249.6 Wh lithium-ion batteries, often configured as a single battery or, in some models, dual batteries for increased power and range. Charging is straightforward—most mobility scooters come with a charger that plugs into a standard household outlet, typically requiring 6-8 hours for a full charge. Always follow the manufacturer’s guidelines for charging to maintain battery health and ensure optimal performance.

Distance Range of Mobility Scooters

The distance range of mobility scooters varies by model and battery size. Standard models, such as those with a 12 Ah battery, may offer a per-charge range of up to 7.25 miles, ideal for short trips or daily errands. For longer journeys, some of our scooters, especially those with larger or dual batteries (e.g., 249.6 Wh x 2), can travel up to 22 miles on a single charge. Range depends on factors like user weight, terrain, speed, and weather conditions, so consider your typical travel distance when selecting a model to ensure it meets your needs.

Standard vs. Heavy-Duty Mobility Scooters

Standard and heavy-duty mobility scooters cater to different user requirements. Standard mobility scooters are lighter, more compact, and designed for general use, with weight capacities typically ranging from 250 to 300 pounds. They’re ideal for users who need a versatile, easy-to-maneuver option for daily activities. Heavy-duty mobility scooters, by contrast, are built for greater durability, offering higher weight capacities (often 350 to 500 pounds) and stronger frames to handle rougher terrain or heavier loads. These models may have larger motors, enhanced suspension, and bigger wheels for stability, making them perfect for outdoor enthusiasts or those needing extra support.

Mobility Scooter Sizes and Small Doorways

Mobility scooter sizes vary to accommodate different environments and user preferences. Standard width sizes for mobility scooters typically range from 20 to 25 inches, making them suitable for most home and public spaces. However, for individuals concerned about navigating small doorways, such as those measuring 28 inches wide, we recommend selecting a compact model with a width of 22 inches or less. Seat height is another consideration, with most models offering adjustable seats, typically ranging from 17 to 22 inches, to ensure comfort and proper ground clearance. Adjustable features allow you to customize the fit for optimal ergonomics and ease of use, especially in tight spaces.

Folding Mobility Scooters for Transport

For those who value portability, folding mobility scooters are an excellent choice for transport. These lightweight models, often weighing as little as 42 pounds, can be folded or disassembled quickly, making them ideal for travel, whether by car, plane, or other means. Folding mobility scooters are designed to fit in trunks or storage compartments, offering convenience without sacrificing functionality. Many of our FAA-compliant models are also foldable, combining portability with travel-ready features for ultimate flexibility.

  1. zatchu

Great wheelchair, Built very good very sturdy strong motors the controller is very responsive seat is very comfortable easy to get into the foot rest doesn’t get in the way like others and it’s adjustable.I’ve ridden it inside my house and it has great turning radius. It has 4 solid tires so I want have to worry about flat tires.Easy to fold up and down.I had a very expensive 400 pound one that MDA gave me and this wheelchair ride’s and drives just as good if not better, because this one is a lot easier to manipulate and ssoooo much lighter.I feel like this chair will last for many years to come. This is by far the best deal I’ve ever bought here on Galenus Medical.I got my new chair Monday it’s Saturday and I’ve been using it every day now and the battery still shows full charge. Woohoo Dawg Gone this wheelchair is so comfortable last a long time on a single charge I’m very satisfied with it.If anyone is on the fence then just jump off and pull the trigger on it you want regret it.If you have any questions or need anything from the seller he is very easy to get in touch with and he or they will get back in touch with you the very same day. I’ve never had a seller that would hardly ever get back to me? But this company is great! I’m not getting paid for this it’s just the truth. I had a question about buying a extra battery before I got it and they sent me a message with a link to the battery that would fit my new wheelchair. It’s little stuff like that when you buy a special item that means so much to me to be able to talk to someone about it.Best customer service on Galenus Medical. One very happy customer with a awesome built wheelchair. It even drives well outside too. This is very important to me especially when it’s springtime and I love spending time outside watching everything Bloom. I have my total freedom again!! Woohoo!!Thank you Mojang

My primary power chair is a Quantum (think Rolls Royce of wheelchairs). This chair (that arrived yesterday) is more like a Nissan Juke. Functional, even fun, but basic. I bought it because the Quantum is 400 pounds and won’t fit in an Uber (or a Rolls Royce). It will however fit in the back of a Nissan Juke and sometimes, my wheelchair van is just too much for small parking lots or short outings. I also wanted a lightweight power chair so we could visit friends and still get my chair in the door. Weighing in at about 50 pounds, that’s a possibility. The joystick is a tad jerky – so if you do not have the cat reflexes I do, you might want to keep it at a lower speed. I’d also suggest investing in a decent cushion for your tush. The main reason I chose this chair over any other was the curved back rest. I have some spine and neck issues that require a small recline, and this chair does just that. Not too much, just enough for comfort. So far, I’m pretty happy with the purchase. I’ll post an update if that changes (because I’ve only had it a day), but I’m liking it.

I bought this chair in April. I have used it enough to write an acute commentary. It is very nice on the image: neat aspect, balanced, smaller than the regular chair, the seat is comfy. In short, it is very pleasant to look at, you would almost think is a regular chair, and the price looked reasonable. But… think twice before ordering and look for alternative products. What I’ve noticed (to reduce the stars it deserve) are problems related to the design and manufacture. The first one has to do with the foot rest: it hits the front wheels when you turn; if you change the position the problem becomes worst, so I opted to take it off. Not nice to the user! The maneuverability is dubious, since the wheel is too sensitive, that ESPECIALLY when the charge of the battery is recently, made turns so fast and hard to control. But the battery( too short life/active), as is located under the seat, is really a problem to connect if you are alone in the house or outside. Similarly the movement of the arms, especially the right side in my case, stacks -even when pressing the plastic red botton-, very bad for the sick/fractured right shoulder. Also, some details in the building of the chair -like the seat cover, are remarcable: upon receiving the chair, one of the screws that fix the cover to its base, got loose/lost with the adjusting butterfly (both plastic). i dont know how to replace it, but it is the negligence in the final quality check that bothers the most. I would like the replacement of the driving device for something more accurate and safe. I did not yet contact the manufacturer, but if something happens for better, I’ll write here for sure. The remote control does not exist! It would have been nice if it did.

Broke my hip and ankle… this is great…small turn radius great ramp climbing ability.. fast..Needs a cup holder and a better seat cushion.. only bad I see is the back wheels seem a little slick on smooth concrete and metal ramps… I put a carpet on my ramp and turn slow on the smooth concrete.. loving it!!Reverse horn… (it will be loud)while holding the horn button down, press the speed button down (-) about “8” times fast… lights will start flashing funny.. release buttons… the speed control is now volume adjust for the beep.. press – until the “none” beep sound like press power no more beep. is it the wrong way.. idk but no beep is fantastic… good luck have fun!!Update: see the picture.. when the foot rest is up you can not drive the wheel will hit the foot rest… while it is adjustable.. if you make it longer from the center mark, when you fold it up, it will be to high to sit down over.. so I am 6-3 .. I ride with my knees up because when I get up and sit down I prefer the leg rest folded up and not in my way.. which is so much better then the side folding 1s… I might cut the exta extension off so i can drive while the foot rest is up.. still love this thing
